For the past 15 months, I’ve felt like I’ve been having this conversation largely with myself. The technology has been moving so quickly that almost every week something changes, and I’m concerned that a lot of people still don’t fully understand the scale of what’s coming.

AI is going to reshape jobs, industries and education while creating businesses, skills and opportunities that in many cases don’t even exist yet. The technology is moving faster than our education and training systems can keep up, and that’s going to become a much bigger problem if we don’t start addressing it now. I don’t think we should pretend anyone has all the answers, because nobody does.

That’s why I’ve created Driving About as an open canvas. It gives me somewhere to share what I’ve already learned, explain the direction our businesses are heading and talk openly about where I believe AI, electric transport, clean energy, manufacturing, education and other technologies are taking us. Part of that education is me doing the work myself and demonstrating how ride share can create flexible cash flow while new businesses, services and opportunities are explored and developed. Just as importantly, it gives everyone the opportunity to ask questions and become part of the conversation.

You don’t need to tell us who you are or where you’re from and no question is a silly question. If you’re thinking about something, there’s a good chance plenty of other Australians are thinking about it too. We can learn from people of all walks of life who are experiencing these changes in completely different ways, then share what we learn openly and honestly.

I don’t know a simpler way to get this conversation moving quickly or to give more people a chance to get involved before the disruption accelerates. The changes ahead are going to be significant and there is an enormous amount of work to do. Driving About isn’t about being negative or alarmist. It’s about being open and honest about where we are, what’s changing and how we prepare for the road ahead.

I’ll share the experience that got me here, but more importantly, where we’re heading and everything we learn along the way. Driving About will keep evolving because the technology, the businesses and the world around us will keep evolving. We’ll learn as we go, report on what we find and keep the conversation open so every Australian has the chance to understand what’s happening and prepare for what comes next.
